Where are the fancy stuff on this site?
This is a purely functional website and that's what makes it fancy (and beautiful).
You see no custom fonts, background images, burger menu, grid layout, image sliders, carousels, gradients, lazy load, DeviceAtlas, Modernizr, jQuery animations...
All those things are in the rest of the Internet. Not here.
Objectively, this site is:
- Lightweight and fast (4.6 KB code in 1 request... likely smaller than your site's favicon).
- Responsive with no media queries. This site doesn't care if you're browsing on an Apple Watch or Windows 3.1.
- Cross-browser compatible. It even works with the old IE6 or Lynx.
- W3C-valid. There aren't broken elements. Websites aren't broken by default, they are functional, high-performing and accessible.
An extremely minimalist website faster than what you're used to.
